How To Write The Perfect Welcome Email

How To Write The Perfect Welcome Email

Before you start writing your perfect welcome email, we need to understand what exactly is a welcome email and why do we need it?

A welcome email is quite simply the first impression you make with your new subscriber. Your welcome email is crucial to building a relationship with subscribers and growing your audience.

Get Them To Open The Email

The first thing you need to do is get the new subscriber to open up your email! This means the subject line has to be perfect!

How do you do that? This is how.

  • Try to avoid getting any spelling or punctuation errors. This simply encourages distrust and can easily force the subscriber to unsubscribe.
  • Keep the subject line short and simple so that the reader knows exactly what to expect. Most email service providers suggest using around 10-60 characters.
  • Show enthusiasm. An enthusiastic subject line makes your email stand out from the crowd and is, more often than not, the first to be seen.

Thank Them!

It should come to you as no surprise that the next thing you should do is, thank your new subscriber for signing up to your email list!

Just by giving a little bit of appreciation to your new subscriber and they’ll have a good start to their new relationship!

It’s also clever to let new subscribers know that they have signed up for something. The last thing you want is subscribers that don’t know what they’ve signed up for!

Give Them What They Signed Up For!

Did you promise them an offer if they signed up to your email list?

Now you have to meet your end of the deal and give them exactly what they came for!

It has to be clear as soon as the subscriber opens the email. You don’t want to lose the trust of new subscribers by forcing them to search for their incentive.

If you can explain to them how to redeem their new incentive, try to do so but in as little detail as possible. This shows that you are trying your best to help and guide the new subscriber on their new journey.

Set Expectations

Your new subscriber will want to know what they have signed up for and how often they will be emailed. It’s vital that the new subscriber is told what to expect here and isn’t left wondering why they’re getting certain emails in the future.

If you’re one of those brands that send emails every day, you need to tell your subscribers right from the start. It is very common for people to unsubscribe after being bombarded with unexpected emails.

Make your intentions clear so that your subscribers know exactly what they can expect.

Remember, it’s important to lay out whether your new subscriber will be the first to know about new product launches, new blogs, gain exclusive discounts, etc.

Introduce Yourselves A Bit More!

Build a connection with your new subscribers by telling them more about what you do and why you do it!

Not every new sign-up knows enough about you. So this is your chance to directly explain your story to your new subscriber.

Explain who you are, why you do what you do and how it can help them!

We believe the saying is, “A story well told is a story well sold!”

Send Them To Your Socials!

You should always use your welcome email as an opportunity to encourage new subscribers to visit your socials and grow your social media following!

They already trust you enough to have you emailing them, now is your chance to give them a real feel of your brand.
